Gyalshing, 26th February (IPR): A meeting pertaining to conducting of various sports activities in schools under West District was held in the office of the District Collector, West, Gyalshing, today.
The meeting was chaired by the District Collector West, Shri Karma R. Bonpo along with ADC West, Mr. Agawane Rohan Ramesh, Additional Director/Education, Mr. K.C. Gyatsho, Deputy Director/Sports, Smt. Nickjey Lamu Bhutia, and Head Master/Middle Gyalshing Secondary School, Mr. Tashi Ongyal Bhutia.
DC West suggested to prepare a precise school’s activities calendar and include every saturday as sports day without getting the classes disturbed so as to imbibe positive sport spirit among students. He further suggested to conduct interschool tournaments in the field of football, basketball and badminton based on conditions. He stated that interschool and block level sports activities is very much important as the children will get chance to showcase their talents.
DC West informed that fourteen basketball courts are under project at West district and ground repairing will be done gradually. He also informed about the increase in sports centre with more sports activities in the days to come. Participation in sports contributes to improve academics with no time for the students to unacceptable activities, Shri Bonpo added.
