Key Achievements

The State Government under the leadership of the Hon`ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) marked a noteworthy milestone after the formation of the Government on May 27, 2019. Few of the initiatives and achievements made while navigating the crises of numerous challenges including COVID-19 Pandemic and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood are mentioned here.
# Health
Hospitals are being strengthened with the ongoing construction of additional infrastructures.
  1. 300 bedded New District Hospital at Singtam.
  2. 500 bedded District Hospital at Namchi.
  3. District Hospital at Soreng started on 31st Jan 2021 soon after the declaration of Soreng as the new district.
  4. Tertiary Cancer Care Hospital established at STNM Hospital
  5. 500 bedded Cancer Hospital at Karfectar, Jorethang.
  6. A dedicated TB hospital established at Sochakgang.
  7. Kidney dialysis centers set up in STNM and District Hospitals.
  8. New Intensive Care Units have been established at STNM(37), District Hospital Namchi (10) and Gyalshing –(10).
  9. Viral Diagnostic Laboratory established at STNM Hospital.
  10. New Oxygen plant established at STNM Hospital (1000) and in District Hospitals.
  11. Chemotherapy and Radiation services introduced at STNM Hospital.
  12. Advanced Medical equipments and accessories installed at STNM and District Hospitals.
  13. Commissioning of Super Specialty Complex at STNM Hospital.
  14. Mobile Village Clinic launched to provide thorough medical check-up at village level.
  15. Appointment of medical professionals at different level.
  16. The Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Scheme provides financial aid for medical treatments and numerous healthcare professionals were appointed to enhance service delivery.
# Education
The State Government established several key educational institutions aiming to provide quality education and to promote vocational skills. Most of the universities and institutions are completed and construction of few institutions are underway:
  1. Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Centre of Excellence at Chakung.
  2. Khangchendzonga State University at Tarku.
  3. Medhavi Skills University at Bermiok (Gyalshing),
  4. Alpine International University at Poklok Kamrang.
  5. National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Khamdong.
  6. Degree College at Mangshila (Mangan)
  7. Skill University at Namthang
  8. Mahatma Gandhi University at Daramdin.
  9. Sikkim Government provided 50 MBBS seats to the Sikkimese medical aspirants from financially weaker backgraound, besides 30 seats on payment basis.
  10. Notified Sikkim Adhoc Teachers Regularisation Policy, 2021 and regularised ad- hoc teachers working for 8 years and above.
  11. Introduced Apatan Fellowship Scheme for language PhD scholars and Nar Bahadur Bhandari Fellowship Scheme for higher education outside the country.
  12. Construction of additional infrastructures has been completed in more than 100 schools.
# Agriculture/Horticulture/Animal Husbandry/Fisheries
  1. Launched the Mukhyamantri Krishi Aatma Nirbhar Yojana, a Production Incentive Scheme and ensured attractive financial incentives for production of various types of crops, vegetables, spices and fruits.
  2. Launched Mero Anlaichi Mero Dhan programme for revival of cardamom cultivation in Sikkim.
  3. Launched the Mukhyamantri Pashudhan Samridhi Yojana and provided financial incentive of Rs. 8/- per litre to the Milk Producers.
  4. Declared 1st July as the Gwala Diwas in Sikkim.
  5. Announced and presented the Milk Person of the Year Award to the Highest Milk Producer in the State since 2020. Trophy, Certificate along with the cash award of Rupees Five Lakh is presented to the awardee.
  6. Rupees 10 Lakhs, Rupees 7 Lakhs and Rupees 5 Lakhs presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Highest Milk Producers Cooperative Societies in the state.
  7. Launched the Pig Production Incentive Scheme (PPIS) and provided attractive financial incentives to the Piggery farmers in the state.
  8. Established Sikkim IFFCO organic Limited at Rangpo to promote value addition and benefit the farmers at large.
  9. Sikkim Government signed a Tripartite agreement with the Jammu & Kashmir and Sikkim University and succeeded pilot phase of Safron Cultivation in Sikkim, ensuring enormous range of economic benefit for the farmers of Sikkim.
  10. Launched Mukhyamantri Matsya Utpadan Yojana with provision for subsidy of 60%.
# Rural and Urban Development
  1. Aiming to bring governance closer to the people, two new districts of Pakyong and Soreng have been created and made functional with required infrastructure and manpower.
  2. Launched the Sikkim Garib Aawas Yojana (Rs. 1751682/- per house) and Sikkim Urban Garib Aawas Yojana, providing housing for rural and urban poor. Completed 3050 houses under SGAY during the first tenure.
  3. Grants for house upgradation, GCI Sheets, Protection Wall etc. provided.
# Transport
  1. Constituted Akhil Sikkim Chalak Board.
  2. The State Government started celebrating Sarathi Diwas to honour and acknowledge service of Drivers.
  3. Digitalized the tax paying system through launching of portal www.parivahan.gov.in and mParivahan mobile aap.
  4. Enhanced the accidental death gratuity of Drivers.
  5. Prioritised driver`s household in issuing allotment of CMGAY , SUGAY , GCI Sheet, house upgradation from all districts.
  6. Excursion tour to various groups of drivers.
# Forest
  1. Launched the 'Mero Rukh Mero Santati' initiative, emphasizing planting of 108 trees, linking it to the birth of children, thus fostering a culture of sustainability from a young age.
  2. Launched “Mero Bato Mero Bot” aiming beautification of roads and environmental conservation.
  3. Encouraged the weeklong Paryavaran, Ek ped maa ke naam.
  4. Launched ‘A Day for Mother Earth’ - vehicular movement is stopped (except emergency and essential services) for 7 minutes from 11am to 11:07am on July 7 as a step to address climate change.
# Sports
  1. Construction of Tarun Deep Rai Archery Academy.
  2. Completed the construction of Baichung Stadium and inaugurated on 31st October 2021.
  3. Organized the Sikkim Premier Leage to encourage football enthusiasts in Sikkim.
  4. Establishment of Jaslal Pradhan Boxing Academy in Sikkim.
  5. Announced cash award of Rs. 2.5 Crore , 1.5 Crore and 1 Crore to the Gold, Silver and Bronze medallist in Olympic Games from Sikkim.
# Women Empowerment
Various women welfare schemes including the Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, Vatsalya Scheme and Bahini yojana launched and received widespread appreciation for their impact on women's empowerment and child welfare.
  1. Under the Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, rural mothers receive an annual financial assistance of Rs. 40,000, significantly enhancing their financial independence.

  3. Vatsalya Scheme has benefitted hundreds of couples in supporting them for IVF treatments, addressing crucial aspects of women's health and well-being.
  4. The State Government introduced 50% reservation for women in the police force. This initiative has empowered women and ensured a more balanced and sensitive approach to law enforcement.
    • - Reduced the eligible age for Widow Pension from 40 to 21 years.
    • - Promoted Self Help Groups in all districts.
# Regularisation of Temporary Employees
The State Government brought a major administrative reform by regularizing all temporary employees who have served more than four years of continuous service. the policy brought job security to thousands of employees in the State of Sikkim.
  1. The State Government increased daily wages of labour to Rs. 15,000 per month, improving the livelihood of the working class and ensuring a fair standard of living.
  2. Launched the Chief Minister`s Start-up Scheme and supported the youth towards entrepreneurship.
  3. Adopted ‘V ocal for Local’ policy. Constituted the Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (SEED) Cell and encouraged the vision of One Family One Entreprenur.
  4. Provided building 'Patrakar Bhawan' to the Press Club of Sikkim.
  5. Introduced and presented Teesta Rangit Aviral Kalam Purashkar.
  6. Enhanced Old Age Pension and started disbursement on regular basis.
  7. Established Wellness Park in Gangtok.
  8. Completed many notables pending construction works.
  9. Construction of Mini Secretariat at Lumsey, Gangtok
  10. Established ropeway services to Bhaleydhunga from Yangyang in Namchi District. India`s longest ropeway stretching from an altitude of 1800 meters to 35000 meters, spans over 3.5 kilometer.
These are just a few examples among the numerous works carried out by the Government. A large number of projects are currently underway, new schemes have been launched, constructions are in progress, and public welfare programs are being implemented, all aimed at creating a "Sunaulo, Sammridha ani Samarth Sikkim" under the visionary leadership of the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay).
