Mangan, June 13 (IPR): Mr Hem Kumar Chettri, District Magistrate Mangan convened a meeting to take stock of the situation following the incessant rainfall in and around Mangan District since the night of June 12 and to analyse the disaster and mitigate the conditions of those affected.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate provided an update to the officials on the reported casualties and the extent of damages to properties, livestock and road connectivity at various locations. He emphasised the importance of vigilance and alertness among the officials from the concerned departments, urging them to promptly conduct thorough assessments of the disaster.
The discussions also covered issues related to disruptions in communication, power, drainage and water supplies. Additionally, the District Magistrate also highlighted the necessity for heightened alertness due to the forecasted continuation of downpours.
The casualties reported so far stand as follows: Pakshep : 3 deaths, Ambhithang: 3 deaths and 1 injured, Kabi: 1 injured.
It may be mentioned that a relief camp has been set up at Pakshep JHS.
As per a recent update, the Sangklang Bridge has been washed away. Additionally, the bamboo bridge has also been destroyed.
