A high-level meeting was held today at Lokbhawan with the state's leading pharmaceutical companies in the presence of Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur.

The main objective of this meeting was to establish direct communication with the pharmaceutical companies, review their current industrial activities, and strengthen their participation in the state's development.

During the meeting, representatives of various companies presented their work practices, production capacity, and future plans through detailed presentations. During an open discussion, the representatives also shared their valuable suggestions for addressing the challenges facing the industry and their solutions, which the Governor listened to attentively and assured solutions.

In this context, representatives of pharmaceutical companies outlined that Sikkim is playing a leading role in the country's pharmaceutical manufacturing sector and the state has made a significant contribution to the supply of life-saving medicines at the national level. Along with this, the representatives also elaborated on the significant contributions of these companies in providing employment to the state's youth and strengthening the local economy.

During the interaction, the Governor reviewed the use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds by the companies. He particularly emphasized that a large portion of the CSR funds should be allocated to local welfare, rural development, health services, environmental conservation, and improving the level of education, so that the general public can directly benefit from it at the grassroots level.

The important meeting was attended by the Hon'ble Governor's Commissioner and Joint Secretary Shri Jitendra Singh Raje, the Secretary of the Commerce and Industry Department Smt. Karma D. Yutso, and other senior officials of the department. Representatives of pharma companies, who appreciated the guidance of the Hon'ble Governor and the initiative, said that this is the first such meeting in the history of Lokbhawan. Such direct dialogue and coordination will give a new impetus to industrial development in the state and mutual cooperation will be strengthened.
