Sikkim Horticulture Department Wins Top National Award

The Department of Horticulture, Government of Sikkim, has achieved First Position for Best Scheme Awareness at the Rashtriya Krishi Pragati with Rising Uttar Pradesh Horti Expo 2025, held from 29 to 31 October at Naveen Mandi, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
The event was organised by the All India Commerce and Industry Development Foundation (CIDF), with support from the Indian Institute of Packaging, New Delhi.
This three-day national expo served as a significant platform bringing together key stakeholders — including state horticulture departments, research institutes, industry representatives, farmers, agri-tech innovators, and entrepreneurs — from across the country.
Sikkim’s exhibition captivated visitors with a vibrant display of the state’s renowned organic produce, featuring the Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged red cherry pepper, alongside kiwi, avocado, large cardamom, and Sikkim mandarin.
The department received high praise for its dedicated efforts in promoting horticulture schemes and highlighting the state’s success in sustainable and organic farming practices.
The award-winning team was led by Dr Hemant Ghemeray, Deputy Director, Yanyang, and Dr Bikash Bhattarai, Horticulture Development Officer, Soreng.
Their commitment and expertise played a pivotal role in showcasing Sikkim’s horticultural achievements on a national stage.
