Family Health Awareness Programme Held in Gangtok
Gangtok, August 23, 2026: Special Olympics Bharat (SOB), Sikkim Chapter, organised a Family Health Awareness Programme at Hotel Days Inn, Daragaon, Tadong, Gangtok, with the objective of promoting health awareness and well-being among families and persons associated with the Special Olympics movement.
The programme was attended by Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia, Hon’ble Chairman, SIMFED (Sikkim State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd., Government of Sikkim) and Advisor, SOB Sikkim Chapter.
The programme highlighted the importance of family involvement, health awareness and regular care in supporting the overall well-being of persons with intellectual disabilities. The initiative also provided an opportunity for families and stakeholders to come together, share awareness and strengthen community support.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia emphasised the importance of collective efforts in creating a healthier, more inclusive and supportive society. He appreciated the efforts of Special Olympics Bharat, Sikkim Chapter, in promoting health, inclusion and the welfare of athletes and their families.
The Family Health Awareness Programme concluded with a renewed commitment towards strengthening health awareness and ensuring greater support and opportunities for persons with intellectual disabilities and their families in Sikkim.
