Empowering Women – Nari Shakti Sikkim Delhi Darshan

New Delhi, November 2:

In alignment with the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) Sir, and his continuous efforts towards women’s empowerment, a group of 55 unemployed women from Gnathang Machong Constituency embarked on a seven-day Nari Shakti Sikkim Delhi Darshan exposure tour to New Delhi.

The initiative, under the guidance and support of Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri D.T. Lepcha, aims to encourage and empower women to grow, learn, and lead. The delegation was gracefully accompanied by Hon’ble Area MLA, 21-Gnathang Machong Constituency, Smt. Pamin Lepcha; Zilla Adhakshya, Pakyong District, Smt. Laden Lhamu Bhutia; and Chairperson, Commerce & Industries Department, Ms. Nim Chikki Sherpa.

The tour commenced on 27th October 2025 with the arrival of all participants at Western Court MP Hostel, New Delhi. During the seven-day exposure visit, the group explored several sites of national, historical, and cultural significance, enriching their understanding of India’s democratic and heritage institutions.

Key highlights of the visit included the Parliament of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Akshardham Temple, Jantar Mantar, Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya, and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum. The group also visited Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, and Agra, where they witnessed the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

On 31st October 2025, Hon’ble MP Shri D.T. Lepcha and Hon’ble MLA Smt. Pamin Lepcha hosted a dinner in honour of all participants at their residence in New Delhi. The program concluded on 2nd November 2025, with the group’s return to Bagdogra via IGI Airport, New Delhi.

The Nari Shakti Sikkim Delhi Darshan initiative reflects the Government of Sikkim’s steadfast commitment to promoting women’s empowerment through exposure, education, and experiential learning — encouraging women to actively participate in the process of social and economic development.
