Soreng, April 22:

Cooperation Department, Soreng organised a “One Day at School” programme at Nima Sherpa Government Senior Secondary School, Ribdi, to spread awareness about cooperatives among students.

The programme was attended by Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Inspectors, concerned Assistant Cooperative Inspector, and Project Assistant. Around 45 students along with teachers actively participated in the programme.

Assistant Registrar Ms Durga Devi Chettri addressed the students and explained the history and evolution of cooperatives, formation of cooperatives, and conducted a live election activity among students to help them understand the cooperative formation process in a practical way.

Cooperative Inspector Mr Yadap Chhetri also interacted with the students and spoke about the basics of cooperatives, including the difference between cooperation and cooperative, formation of GPU, and the functioning of the Cooperation Department.

Cooperative Inspector Mr Sonam Tshering Lepcha also highlighted important points on cooperatives and encouraged students to understand the value of cooperation in daily life.

The programme was informative, interactive, and helped students gain a better understanding of the cooperative movement and its importance in society.
