The Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, has completed 2 years of his tenure at the Ashirwad Hall today. On this occasion, a ceremony was organized at the Ashirwad Hall of Raj Bhawan. The ceremony was attended by Sikkim's 18th Governor, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, who completed his 2-year tenure. On this occasion, the ceremony was attended by Sikkim Assembly Speaker Shri Migma Norbu Sherpa, Hon'ble Deputy Speaker Smt. Rajkumari Thapa, Hon'ble Minister Shri Sonam Lama, Hon'ble Minister of Rural Development Department Shri Arun Uprieti, Hon'ble Minister of Urban Development Department Shri Bhoj Raj Rai, Hon'ble Minister of Roads and Bridges Department Shri N. B. Dahal, Hon'ble Minister of Education Shri Raju Basnet, Hon'ble Minister of Social Welfare Department Shri Samdup Lepcha, Hon'ble MLA of Gangtok constituency Shri Dele Namgyal Barfunga, Cabinet Secretary Shri V. B. Pathak, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Secretaries of various departments.
At the beginning of the program, the Secretary cum Deputy Commissioner, Shri Jitendra Singh Raje, highlighted the major achievements of the last 2 years.
After that, a cultural presentation was given by the Department of Culture.
On this occasion, the Honorable Governor honored people from various fields of society. The recipients of awards included the toppers of class 10th from all districts, progressive farmers, police personnel, the helipad manager of Sikkim Trading Development Corporation, Smt. Cherining Wangmu Subba, and Arjun Thapa, Junior Traffic Officer, Bagdogra Airport, and the Burutuk Helipad Manager of Sikkim Trading Development Corporation.
In addition, the employees of the Urban Development Department who are appointed in Lokbhawan were also honored.
In this regard, the officers and staff of Lokbhawan were also honored by the Honorable Governor for their excellent service.
The Governor said that it is a matter of great pleasure to honor the people who stand at the last step of society. In his address, the Governor said that becoming the Governor of Sikkim after living in public life since 1952 is an honor for him. He praised the people here, saying that they are happy with limited resources. He was particularly happy that 5 out of 6 board toppers are girls, which is a living example of the Honorable Prime Minister's vision for women empowerment.
The Governor praised Sikkim's eco-friendly policies. He described the state's organic mission and the 'My Village My Child' scheme (under which 108 trees are planted on the birth of a child) as exemplary for the country. At the same time, he also cited the state's excellent forest cover, disciplined traffic, and the bravery of the brave soldiers deployed on the border as an example for the rest of India.

On this occasion, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Advaitanand Giri, the president of the International Meditation Foundation (USA), was present as a special guest, who presented his spiritual thoughts before everyone.
