Gangtok, November 6:
As part of the ongoing initiative to maintain a crime-free, consumer-friendly, tourist-friendly, and drug-free environment in Gangtok, the District Administration, in coordination with the Gangtok District Police, conducted extensive inspection drives across key locations in the city today.
The joint inspection focused on verifying safety standards in marketplaces, tourist zones, hotels, public transport points, and areas with high footfall. Special attention was given to women’s safety, enforcement of consumer protection norms, and ensuring that no illegal activities or substance abuse occur within the city limits.
All establishments were directed to ensure strict compliance with legal provisions, safety standards, and operational guidelines. Gangtok District Police has also intensified patrolling, surveillance, and coordination with local stakeholders to ensure peace and public safety.
The District Administration and Gangtok District Police reaffirm their commitment to providing a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. Citizens are encouraged to extend their cooperation and promptly report any violations or concerns to the authorities.
The inspections will continue every week, headed by a Magistrate, with participation from all relevant line departments.
