A brief Send-off cum interaction programme was held on 16/09/2026 in the Conference Hall of Skill Development Department, Government of Sikkim for Ms. Priyanka Baraily, a resident of Assam Lingzey , Pakyong District, professionally trained as ANM and Ms. Lhamu Lepcha, from Kabi in Mangan District who have completed B.Sc. Nursing.
The two candidates are set to travel to Israel shortly to work as certified Caregivers for a contract period of 02 years (renewable).
The programme had the presence of Hon’ble Advisor, Skill Development Department & Transport Department, Shri Madan Cintury, Ms. Tashi Cho Cho, Secretary, Skill Development Department, Joint Secretary-cum-CEO, Niyukti Kendra and a team of Niyukti Kendra.
The candidates from Sikkim have been selected under Implementation Protocol-B of Caregiver Sector, a G2G Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of India and the State of Israel. The programme is being implemented through the Population and Immigration Authority, Israel, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The candidates were given pre-departure orientation training by the team from Niyukti Kendra led by Ms. Sushma Pradhan, Joint Secretary-cum-CEO. In the state, the entire process of mobilisation, pre-screening, coordination and facilitation has been carried out by Niyukti Kendra, Skill Development Department, Government of Sikkim in coordination with the NSDC. 16 eligible candidates were pre-screened, out of which 08 candidates qualified and 03 selected through a stringent series of interviews and various types of screening by NSDC and the Israeli Placement Bureau. The third candidate is awaiting final confirmation from the concerned authorities.
Both candidates have expressed their deep gratitude to the Government of Sikkim for the overseas career opportunity and acknowledged the efforts of Niyukti Kendra, Skill Development Department in providing a safe, seamless and ethical international mobility pathway.
The Hon’ble Advisor offered his best wishes to the candidates and assured them of continued assistance as the Chairperson of Foreign Employment & Recruitment Facilitation Board. He appreciated the candidates for their patience and encouraged them to share their experiences with the youth of Sikkim to create greater awareness about opportunities in foreign employment. He further emphasized that the programme is aligned with the vision of Shri. Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Sikkim, for promoting foreign employment opportunities for the youth of Sikkim.
Second round of mobilisation and pre-screening of eligible candidates for Home-Based Caregiver employment opportunities in Israel has been given wide publicity through social media and print media. Further, the department realising the current and anticipated future demand for overseas placement of skilled manpower in the caregiving sector, is underway to train candidates as Geriatric Care Assistant (GCA) for 1470 hrs under Sikkim INSPIRES.
