Sikkim Partners with Infosys to Unlock Global Learning, Digital Skills and Career Opportunities for Youth and Women

Gangtok, 7 October 2026: In a landmark step towards building a future-ready workforce, the Skill Development Department, Government of Sikkim, through the Directorate of Craftsmanship Training Scheme and Employment (DCTSE), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infosys Limited, one of India's most prestigious and globally respected technology and consulting organizations.

This strategic collaboration marks the first-ever partnership between Infosys and the Government of Sikkim, opening new avenues for digital learning, skill development, career advancement and industry exposure for the people of the State.

Infosys will extend access to Infosys Springboard, its flagship digital learning and skilling platform, to learners across Sikkim at no cost. Recognized nationally and internationally for its high-quality learning ecosystem, Infosys Springboard provides access to corporate-grade learning content, certifications, virtual labs, masterclasses and industry-relevant courses designed to equip learners for the jobs of the future.

The partnership is expected to significantly strengthen Sikkim's skilling ecosystem by providing youth, women, students, trainees, educators and jobseekers with access to emerging technology courses, digital and soft skills, vocational training, project management, entrepreneurship and employability-focused learning pathways. The initiative will also connect learners to the Infosys Springboard Job Marketplace, creating wider access to employment opportunities, internships, career guidance and industry networks.

A key highlight of the collaboration is the introduction of specialized women-centric learning pathways, aimed at empowering adolescent girls and women with future-focused skills in areas such as digital technologies, professional development, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and career readiness. These interventions are expected to further the Government's commitment to enhancing women's economic participation and leadership in emerging sectors.

The MoU also envisages instructor-led virtual and hybrid training programmes, curriculum enrichment with industry inputs, faculty development and leadership programmes, internship opportunities, digital literacy campaigns, webinars and outreach activities to promote continuous learning and career awareness across the State.

The collaboration aligns closely with the vision of Sikkim INSPIRES, the Government of Sikkim's flagship initiative supported by the World Bank, which seeks to improve economic opportunities and livelihoods for women and youth through market-oriented skilling and employment interventions.

Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that the partnership brings together the Government's commitment to inclusive development and Infosys' global expertise in technology-enabled learning. By leveraging Infosys' world-class learning infrastructure and the State's institutional reach, the initiative is expected to accelerate the development of a highly skilled, digitally empowered and industry-ready workforce, positioning Sikkim as a leader in technology-enabled skilling and lifelong learning.

The MoU was signed by the Special Secretary-cum-Director, DCTSE, Skill Development Department, and Shri Santosh Ananthapura, AVP - Head and Chief for Government Partnerships, Infosys Limited, in the presence of the Secretary, Skill Development Department.
