Namchi, 29 April : The first day of AIKYAM 2026, the annual fest of Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology, was conducted successfully with great enthusiasm, active participation, and smooth coordination as per the scheduled programme.
The programme commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Shri Tenzing D. Bhutia, Chairman, SIMFED, along with Special Guest Ms. Bibhuti Pradhan, Special Secretary, Technical Education, Department of Education, Guest Ms. Rita Dhakal, Registrar, SBTE, and other dignitaries.
The event began with a welcome address, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the diya, symbolizing the auspicious inauguration of the fest. Khada and mementos were presented to the dignitaries as a mark of respect and honour.
The SRC President addressed the gathering, after which the Principal-cum-Director, Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan, delivered his address, emphasizing the importance of such events in fostering holistic development, creativity, and unity among students.
The cultural segment began with a welcome song (college anthem) and a vibrant welcome dance, setting an energetic tone for the day.
The highlight of the inaugural session was the address by the Chief Guest, Shri Tenzing D. Bhutia, who spoke on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He sensitized students to the dangers of drug abuse, emphasizing its adverse impact on individuals, families, and society. He urged the youth to stay vigilant, make responsible choices, and channel their energy into constructive pursuits such as education, sports, and innovation. His address was impactful and well-received by the audience.
The session continued with the AIKYAM video presentation, followed by a formal vote of thanks.
After the lunch break, the afternoon session featured a well-received teachers’ performance, which was appreciated by the audience for its enthusiasm and creativity.
The Battle of Bands competition emerged as the most engaging segment of the day, showcasing energetic and high-quality performances by student bands from different institutions. Among the participants, TNT (Teachers and Tunes) from B.Ed College, Soreng was declared the winner, delivering an outstanding performance marked by strong stage presence, musical coordination, and audience engagement. Their performance stood out as a highlight of the event and received widespread appreciation.
The day concluded with a short buffer period followed by an electrifying DJ Night, where students participated with great enthusiasm, bringing the celebrations to a lively close.
Overall, Day 1 of AIKYAM 2026 was a grand success, reflecting excellent organization, vibrant participation, and a strong spirit of unity and cultural expression among students.
The second day of AIKYAM 2026, the annual fest of Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology, was conducted successfully with great enthusiasm, active participation, and smooth coordination as per the scheduled programme.
The programme commenced with a welcome speech, setting the tone for a day filled with diverse cultural and competitive events. The morning session featured competitions including Solo Song, Group/Duet Dance, Fashion Show, and Solo Dance, where students showcased their creativity, confidence, and artistic talents.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology, Guest of Honour Shri B.B. Rai, SDM, Jorethang, and Esteemed Guest Mr. Santosh Pradhan, Ward Panchayat, whose presence added significance to the occasion and encouraged the participants.
In the second half of the programme, the Mr./Ms. AIKYAM Competition was conducted, where participants were evaluated on multiple parameters including personality, confidence, and presentation, making it one of the major highlights of the day.
Following this, the programme continued with the Poetry Competition, along with displays of winning entries from the Painting, Photography, and other competitions, highlighting the creative talents of the students.
An Alumni Performance added a nostalgic and engaging element to the programme, strengthening the bond between past and present students. This was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where winners of various competitions were felicitated and recognized for their achievements.
Prior to the main artist performance, Deputy Director-cum-ADM, Sikkim Institute of Science and Technology, Mr. Ajay Rai presented a solo song, which was warmly received and added a graceful touch to the evening segment.
After a brief sound check session, the day culminated with the much-awaited Artist Performance by The Dreamcatchers, which created an electrifying atmosphere with enthusiastic student participation, bringing the celebrations to a vibrant close.
Overall, Day 2 of AIKYAM 2026 was a grand success, reflecting excellent organization, diverse talent, and a strong spirit of unity and cultural expression among students.
