Sikkim SLSA celebrates 77th Republic Day with Cultural Programme and Felicitations
The Sikkim State Legal Services Authority (Sikkim SLSA) celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26th January, 2026 at its office premises, Development Area, Gangtok.
The National Flag was unfurled by Hon’ble Mrs Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim and Executive Chairperson, Sikkim SLSA followed by a Guard of Honour and National Anthem rendered by officers and staff members of the Sikkim SLSA.
The programme was attended by Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.P. Subba, Judge (retired), High Court of Sikkim & Judge, High Court Lok Adalat, Shri Roger R Rai, former Managing Director, SIDICO, senior judicial officers, including the Principal District & Sessions Judge, Gangtok, the Registrar, High Court of Sikkim, Judicial Officers, Designated Senior Advocates, Additional Advocate General of Sikkim, Other Persons of the High Court Lok Adalat, Panel and Retainer Lawyers of Sikkim SLSA, officers and staff members of Sikkim SLSA and members of the media.
A cultural programme organized by Sikkim SLSA was later held at the Auditorium of the Hon’ble High Court of Sikkim. The programme was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Mr Justice A Muhamed Mustaque, the Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim and Patron-in-Chief, Sikkim SLSA along with Hon’ble Mrs Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim and Executive Chairperson, Sikkim SLSA.
The cultural programme featured performances by the children from Nrityaanjali Dance Academy, Tadong and Natraj Kala Kendra, Singtam, presentation by the children of Child Care Institutions of Rainbow Children Home, Lingdok and Bojoghari Children Home; screening of a short video showcasing the activities undertaken by Sikkim SLSA from 2015 to December, 2025, sharing of memoirs about the assistance provided by Sikkim SLSA by members of the Freedom Facility Rehabilitation Centre, Tathangchen and Serenity Home, Rehabilitation Centre, Upper Burtuk, presentation by the Panel Advocates of Sikkim SLSA and staff of Sikkim SLSA.
A commendation ceremony was also held wherein certificates and mementos were presented by Hon’ble Mr Justice A Muhamed Mustaque, the Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim and Patron-in-Chief, Sikkim SLSA to the best performing Para-Legal Volunteer amongst all the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs), the best performing Legal Literacy Club in all schools under all the DLSAs and three convict PLVs manning the Legal Aid Clinic at the State Central Prison, Rongyek and the DLSAs across Sikkim, in recognition of the commitment and excellent work rendered in legal services.
Hon’ble Mrs Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim and Executive Chairperson, Sikkim SLSA felicitated the Caretakers/In-charge of Old Age Homes of Lee Aal Sangh, Rakdong, Tintek, Old Age Home, Jalipool and Jyestha Nagrik Sewa Samman Kendra, Namchi, with a Certificate of Appreciation for their dedicated service towards the welfare of displaced, marginalized and destitute senior citizens.
The Sikkim SLSA has uploaded the programme on YouTube and Facebook to enable members of the Bar, Officers and staff members and interested members of the public to view the event. A Facebook page has also been created under the name “Sikkim State Legal Services Authority”.
