The 64th Board Meeting of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) was convened today at the SICUN Conference Hall, Assam Lingzey. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Chairman, Dr. Mangal Jit Rai and attended by Vice-Chairman Mr. Purna P. Sharma, Board Members of SICUN, Ms. Jabi Thapa, Principal Registrar, Cooperation Department, Mrs. Karma Ongmu, Registrar, Cooperation Department, Mrs. P. G. Lucksom, Director, Finance Department, Mrs. Anita Subba, Addl. Secretary, IPR Department, Mr. Dhiraj Pradhan, MD, DACS, Mrs. Kesang Deki, CGM, Sikkim Milk Union, Mr. R. L. Sharma, GM, SISCO Bank, Mr. Zeepa Sherpa, Under Secretary, Planning & Development Department, Mr. Phadung Bhutia, CEO, SICUN and Mrs. Indira Sharma, EO, SICUN.
The meeting deliberated on and resolved a number of significant agenda items, including:
Confirmation of the Minutes of the 63rd Board Meeting.
Review of the Action Taken Report on the 63rd Board Meeting.
Presentation of Achievement and Activity Reports of the five divisions: Training & Education, Cooperative Development, Hostel, Business & Marketing and Social Media.
Approval of a proposed amendment to the Union’s Bye-Laws, Chapter IV (Membership), by inserting Section 4.5 – Individual Member (Nominal Member).
Appointment of a Qualified Auditor and fixation of remuneration.
Enhancement of SICUN employees’ salaries.
Approval of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Conveyance Bills.
Provision of Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) facility for SICUN employees.
Approval of Leave Encashment facility.
Approval of Financial Assistance (₹15,000/-) for SICUN staff.
Change in the nomenclature of an existing Division of SICUN.
Approval of the Audited Financial Statements and Annual Report for the year 2024–25.
Any other item with the permission of the Chair.
The Board engaged in detailed discussions on employee welfare, festival advances, strengthening business initiatives, mutual collaboration with apex bodies for profitable ventures and management of damaged items. Suggestions were also made to increase membership as a means of enhancing SICUN’s revenue generation.
The presentation of financial growth highlighted the need for long-term planning to ensure sustainable development and consistency. The audited report for 2024–25 was presented and approved by the Board.
On this occasion, the Vice-Chairman of SICUN, Mr. Purna P. Sharma, who has recently been appointed as OSD to the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department was felicitated by the Board Members.
The meeting concluded on a positive and constructive note with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Indira Sharma, Executive Officer of SICUN.
