Sikkim State Cooperative Union holds State wide Schedule for the 72nd All India Cooperative Week (14–20 November 2025) Celebration

A staff meeting was held under chairmanship of Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman, Sikkim State Cooperative Union at the board room. The meeting was attended by the CEO, EO, senior officers and staff.

He emphasised that last year, the programme was organised on a state-wide scale in a grand manner. This year, the celebration will once again be conducted across the state to mark the 72nd All India Cooperative Week, scheduled from 14th to 20th November 2025.

The cooperative organisations across India will observe the 72nd All India Cooperative Week from 14 to 20 November 2025, an annual nationwide event initiated in 1951 by the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) to promote cooperative awareness and honour the legacy of Vaikunth Bhai Mehta, a visionary leader of the Indian cooperative movement. The celebration also coincides with the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister and reflects the cooperative ideals championed by leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi ,Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Laxman Rao Inamdar, Tribhuvandas Patel.

For the 2025 observance, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) finalised the theme and sub-themes on 8 August 2025 under the chairmanship of the Chief Executive, NCUI. These were approved by the Governing Council on 27 August 2025, chaired by Shri Dileepbhai Sanghani, Chairman, NCUI, and subsequently approved during the Annual General Body

Meeting held on 20 September 2025. Theme 2025: “Cooperatives as Vehicles for Atmanirbhar Bharat” and day-wise Sub-Themes: 14 Nov: Promoting digitalisation to enhance operational efficiency, accountability and transparency; 15 Nov: Tribhuvan Sahakar University Research and Training Transforming Cooperative education; 16 Nov: Strengthening Rural development through cooperatives; 17 Nov: National Cooperative Policy ecosystem, structured roadmap; 18 Nov: Empowering youth, women and weaker sectors (Handicrafts, handloom, labour, fisheries) through cooperative entrepreneurship; 19 Nov: Expanding cooperatives in emerging sectors such as tourism, health, green energy, platform coops, kitchen coops and any other conceivable area and 20 Nov: Innovative cooperative business models for global competitiveness.

As a key member of National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), the Sikkim State Cooperative Union, in coordination with the Cooperation Department and the esteemed Apex Cooperative Bodies of Sikkim, will conduct Cooperative Week and International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) programmes across all six districts of Sikkim. This decision was taken during the SICUN Executive Committee Meeting held on 7 October 2025.

District wise schedule: 14 Nov: Namchi, 15 Nov: Gyalzing, 16 Nov: Soreng, 17 Nov: Mangan, 18 Nov: Gangtok, 19 Nov: Pakyong and 20 Nov: Grand Closing Ceremony at SICUN Auditorium.

The main objectives of this celebration are to create extensive awareness on the Theme 2025: “Cooperatives as Vehicles for Atmanirbhar Bharat” and its day-wise sub-themes. All day-wise programmes will be coordinated by the respected board of directors in their respective areas. Sikkim State Cooperative Union reaffirms its commitment to advancing cooperative values and contributing effectively to the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
