SIKKIM RIFLE ASSOCIATION MAKES HISTORY AT THE 13th NORTH EAST ZONAL SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

The Sikkim Rifle Association, affiliated with the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, has achieved a historic milestone at the 13th North East Zonal Shooting Championship 2026, held in Assam.
A total of 11 athletes from Sikkim participated in the Air Weapon events, comprising 8 Pistol Shooters and 3 Rifle Shooters. The athletes represented Sikkim with determination, discipline and sporting excellence at the zonal level.
The championship brought remarkable success for Sikkim, with two athletes securing qualification for the prestigious 69th National Shooting Championship 2026:
* Ms. Anu Chettri – 10m Air Pistol
* Ms. Tshering Yangden Bhutia – 10m Air Rifle
Their qualification marks a significant achievement for the young shooting talent of Sikkim and reflects the growing standard of competitive shooting in the state.
Adding another historic moment, Mr. Laxuman Adhikari, competing in the Master Men’s 10m Air Pistol Individual event, secured a Bronze Medal in his category.
This medal holds special significance as it is the first-ever medal won by Sikkim at the North East Zonal level in shooting, marking a proud chapter in the history of Sikkim shooting sports.
The Sikkim Rifle Association extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the participating athletes, coaches, officials, parents and supporters whose dedication and contribution have made this achievement possible.
The Association further acknowledges the continued support and guidance of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, in promoting and developing shooting sports in the state.
These achievements are a testament to the fact that Sikkim Rifle Association is steadily growing and building a strong foundation for the future of shooting sports in Sikkim.
