Chandigarh, Haryana, 8th June, 2026: Hon’ble Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa attended the inaugural function of The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference of the India Region Zone II hosted by the Haryana Legislative Assembly at Haryana Legislative Assembly, Chandigarh (8th & 9th June, 2026).
Hon’ble Speaker Lok Sabha Shri Om Birla inaugurated the conference. Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh, Hon’ble Chief Minister , Haryana Shri Nayab Singh Saini and presiding officers and legislators from 15 State Legislatures attended the event.
Ahead of the inaugural session, the delegates joined for lunch at Lok Bhawan, Haryana hosted by Hon’ble Governor of Haryana Professor Ashim Kumar Ghosh.
The conference will focus on key themes including the role of legislatures in nation-building, Viksit Bharat 2047 and artificial intelligence. Additionally, a special documentary film on the history and culture of Haryana was also screened. The plenary sessions of the conference will be held tomorrow.
