Sikkim Athletic Association Celebrates National Javelin Day 2025 at Khel Gaon

Gangtok, August 07: The Sikkim Athletic Association (SAA), under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), successfully celebrated National Javelin Day 2025 at Khel Gaon Stadium, Resithang, Gangtok. The event featured a javelin competition aimed at honouring India’s historic Olympic achievement in Athletics and promoting the sport among youth and veteran athletes across the state.

The celebration commemorated the Gold Medal win of Olympian Neeraj Chopra at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics — India’s first-ever Olympic gold in track and field. The occasion brought together aspiring athletes, sports officials, former players, and school students in a vibrant showcase of talent and sportsmanship.

In his welcome address, Mr Rajiv Roka, General Secretary of SAA, highlighted the importance of the day as a platform to inspire the youth of Sikkim and build a strong future in athletics. He also acknowledged the efforts of the districts in nurturing young talent and promoting active participation in the field of sports.

The javelin competition featured athletes in six categories:

• Under-14 (Boys & Girls)

• Under-18 (Boys & Girls)

• Open (Men & Women)

• Veterans (Men & Women – 45 years and above)

Winners were felicitated with medals and mementos by the Chief Guest. The detailed results are as follows:
