Pakyong, December 08: The 65th Board Meeting of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) was held at the Conference Hall of SICUN on 8th December, 2025. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Chairman, Dr. Mangal Jit Rai and attended by Vice-Chairman, Shri Purna Prasad Sharma along with the elected Board Members of SICUN, Shri H.B. Gurung, Shri Hemant Dahal, Mrs. Tshering Doma Bhutia and Shri Anil Sharma.
The meeting was also graced by the presence of Shri Shyam Pradhan, Hon’ble Advisor, Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim, as the Special Guest Invitee.
Among those present as nominated representatives of Government Departments and Apex Organizations were Mr. Pemba Tsh. Lepcha, Addl. Registrar, Cooperation Department; Mrs. Anita Subba, Addl. Secretary, IPR Department; Mr. Gaurav Dhungel, Joint Director, Finance Department; Mr. R. L. Sharma, General Manager, SISCO Bank; Mr. Saurav Sharma, Asst. Manager, Sikkim Milk Union; Mr. Zeepa Sherpa, Under Secretary, Planning & Development Department; Mr. Phadung Bhutia, CEO, SICUN and Mrs. Indira Sharma, Executive Officer, SICUN.
The CEO placed the agenda before the Board, following which members deliberated and resolved several important agenda items, including:
Confirmation of the Minutes and Review of the Action Taken Report on the Minutes of the 64th Board Meeting.
Presentation of Achievements and Activity Reports from the following five divisions: Training & Capacity Building, Cooperative Development, Hostel & Hospitality, Business & Marketing and Social Media & Digital Communications.
The Hon’ble Chairman, Dr. Rai, directed the CEO and EO to execute all decisions in a time bound and transparent manner, ensuring efficiency and accountability in implementation.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on various matters, including the promotion of business through purely organic products. The Hon’ble Advisor, Shri Shyam Pradhan, emphasized the importance of differentiating between organic and non organic products before marketing and stressed the need for greater cooperative awareness among the youth.
Mrs. Anita Subba, Addl. Secretary, IPR Department, suggested connecting with ITI trainees and forming cooperative societies to encourage youth participation and entrepreneurship.
Regarding the membership drive, Mr. Pemba Tsh. Lepcha, Addl. Registrar, Cooperation Department, advised that SICUN issue a formal communication to all District Heads encouraging the membership of MPCS with SICUN.
Shri Purna Prasad Sharma, Vice Chairman and Board Member, Shri H.B. Gurung, actively raised queries regarding the registration of land and audit observations from previous years, seeking clarifications and updates from the Board.
The meeting concluded on a positive and constructive note with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mrs. Indira Sharma, Executive Officer, SICUN.
