SICUN Expands Professional Training Opportunities in Cooperative Management

Anand, Gujarat, October 3: The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) has finalised its academic collaboration with Tribhuvan Sahakari University (TSU), Anand, Gujarat and is preparing to commence a Three-Month Certificate Course in Cooperative Management from the third week of November 2026.

The course will be conducted at SICUN’s Junior Cooperative Training Centre (JCTC). This initiative is expected to establish an important foundation for professional training, capacity building and the development of skilled human resources in Sikkim’s cooperative sector. Tribhuvan Sahakari University operates under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.

The final meeting regarding the course’s affiliation and academic implementation was held with the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Singh at his chamber in Anand. The necessary formalities including the release of the course brochure have been completed and SICUN is preparing to conduct the first batch.

The course will be conducted in accordance with the academic standards and guidelines prescribed by TSU. It will provide participants with structured academic knowledge of cooperative management along with practical experience and essential professional skills.

During the meeting, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S. P. Singh praised SICUN’s initiative to launch its first certificate course following its affiliation with TSU. He welcomed the initiative as an important step towards systematic education and professional development in cooperative management.

SICUN Chairman Dr. Mangal Jit Rai expressed his gratitude for the guidance and support received from the University leadership and stated that SICUN is committed to conducting the course successfully. He also reaffirmed his commitment to creating further opportunities for professional development in the cooperative sector.

Dr. Rai extended a cordial invitation to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor to visit Sikkim and SICUN on the occasion of the course’s launch in November 2026. He stated that such a visit would further strengthen the academic collaboration between TSU and SICUN and provide additional encouragement to cooperative institutions and stakeholders in Sikkim.

This collaboration is expected to expand access to specialised training in the cooperative sector in Sikkim and contribute significantly to the development of skilled capable and professionally equipped human resources.
