REGIONAL REVIEW AND PLANNING WORKSHOP ON SCHOOL LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLYSCERT,

3rd – 5th FEBRUARY 2026

A three-day Review and Planning Workshop (RRPW) on School Leadership Development for School Leadership Academies was successfully concluded today at SCERT, Lower Burtuk, Gangtok organised by the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), NIEPA, New Delhi in collaboration with the School Leadership Academy (SLA) SCERT Sikkim.

The workshop was anchored by National Centre for School Leadership that delved deep into the various leadership components that the NCSL undertakes at the national level and the aspects of school leadership activities that the School Leadership Academies are engaged with ranging from Content and Material Development, Live Streaming, Networking and Institution Building and Research and Development.

The primary purpose of the workshop was to provide a platform for sharing of knowledge and practices related to School Leadership Development; reviewing the work of SLAs over the past years, creation of networks and documenting of innovative practices and researches conducted by SLA Faculty and School Leaders. Besides, it also catered to empower the State Resource Groups (SRGs) of participating states namely – Jharkhand, Bihar and Sikkim and to identify the gaps and to strategize interventions aimed at overcoming them in the days to come.

As part of the workshop, Dr. Charu Smita Malik – Assistant Professor, NCSL, NIEPA, New Delhi also visited the School Leadership Portal of various states and gave a live demonstration of the different contents and materials developed and uploaded by different states in the NCSL portal. Besides, a couple of sessions were solely dedicated to the preparation of Perspective Plans for respective SLAs up to 2030 followed by presentation by each state.

The Valedictory session of the RRPW was graced by Shri Amber Das Chhetri – Director, Language and Textbooks, Education Department as the Chief Guest. The other dignitaries included Dr. Shanti Ram Adhikari – Director-in-Charge, SCERT, Ms. Tshering Lhamu Bhutia - Additional Director, SCERT, Ms. Karma Doma Kaleon – Deputy Director SCERT and participants from different states. Dr. Adhikari welcomed the Chief Guest by offering him with a traditional scarf and an ornamental plant as a token of love and appreciation. He also welcomed all the participants and thanked the respective states’ School Leadership Academies and SCERT for their participation in the workshop. A highlight of the 3-day workshop was given by Dr. Charu Smita Malik followed by the feedback by representatives of each participating states. Shri A.D. Chhetri – Director, Language and Textbooks speaking on the occasion thanked the NCSL for the good work carried out to empower the State Resource Groups and highlighted the role of school leadership on the learning in schools which in his words “we exist because the school exists” and “the school exists because the children exist” therefore, he stressed on keeping the child at the centre of all learning activities taken up in schools.

This was followed by presentation of token of appreciation to the Resource Persons from NCSL – Dr. Charu Smita Malik, Dr. Pankaj Singh and Dr. Yogesh Paharia, Assistant Professors, NCSL, NIEPA and distribution of certificates to the participants. The program was coordinated by Mr. Ajay Pokhrel – SLA Nodal Officer, SCERT, Sikkim and Mr. Ashim Dhakal – Consultant of SLA was the Master of Ceremony of the valedictory session.
