Pakyong, 21 June:
An awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was conducted at Yakten GPK Hall, Pakyong, under the initiative of District Collector ,Pakyong Mrs. Pari Bishnoi in coordination with Sarathi Organization. The programme aimed to promote an addiction-free and suicide-free community among newly elected municipal councillors, pharmacists, liquor shop owners, ward representatives, municipal staff, and local youth.
The event was graced by Mr. Enchung Bhutia, President, Pakyong Municipal Council, as Chief Guest, and Mr. Bishal Sharma, Additional Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, as Guest of Honour.
Key sessions included Mobile Addiction by Mrs. Ashmita Tamang, Chief Coordinator, SARATHI 1.0, Mental Health Awareness by Dr. Nitesh Bhusal from Pakyong Primary Health Center, Legal Aspects of Substance Abuse by Mr. Pradeep Chettri, Station House Office, Pakyong Police Station and an Experience Sharing Session by Mr. Andrew Syangbo, Director, The Samaritan Rehabilitation Centre, Pakyong. The programme highlighted prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation as essential steps towards a healthier and drug-free society.
