Gyalshing, 2 August: The NSS Unit of Sanchaman Limboo Government College (SMLGC), Aarigaon, Gyalshing, in collaboration with My Bharat Kendra, Gyalshing, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, successfully organized the inaugural programme of “Gen-Z Against Addiction: Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” on 2 August 2026 at the Conference Hall of SMLGC. The nationwide campaign was inaugurated virtually by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.
The programme was graced by Mr. Pradeep Baisla, District Youth Officer, My Bharat Kendra, Gyalshing, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Dhan Bahadur Darjee, District Youth Coordinator, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India; Mrs. Lucky T. Sherpa, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science, SMLGC; Shri Padam Bahadur Rai and Shri Bal Krishna Sharma, Administrative Staff of SMLGC; Mr. Yasuf Biswa from Government ITI, Gyalshing; Shri Ganesh Bahadur Subba, PRT, Langang Secondary School; and Mrs. Purna Kala, PRT, Langang Secondary School.
Around 250 students from Sanchaman Limboo Government College, DIET Gyalshing, Government ITI Gyalshing, and Langang Secondary School and local stack holders, participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The event was organized and hosted by Mr. Pema Loda Lepcha, Assistant Professor-cum-Programme Officer of the NSS Unit, SMLGC. In his address, he highlighted the significance of My Bharat registration for students and youth and emphasized the importance of leading a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle while supporting the vision of a drug-free India through awareness and counselling.
Chief Guest Mr. Pradeep Baisla spoke on the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, explaining the importance of the My Bharat initiative and encouraging young people to become responsible citizens and active contributors to nation-building.
The programme commenced with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, administered by Mr. Pema Loda Lepcha. My Bharat T-shirts and caps were distributed to participants as part of the campaign. Following the inaugural session, participants joined the virtual interaction with the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Certificates of participation were later distributed to the participating institutions, and the programme concluded with a group photograph.
The event reflected the collective commitment of educational institutions and government agencies towards creating an addiction-free, healthy, and empowered youth for a Viksit Bharat.
