Rangpo Nagar Panchayat Holds Health Camp for Safai Mitras
Under the banner of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, the Safai Mitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir – Welfare Camp providing Health Check-up was organised at Rangpo Nagar Panchayat Hall in collaboration with Rangpo Primary Health Centre, Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SACS), and the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.
The programme was attended by Hon’ble Municipal Vice-President Smt. Sanju Manger, Hon’ble Ward Councillor, Upper Bazar, Shri Pinku Kumar Prasad, Hon’ble Ward Councillor Chanatar Ward Smt. Larishna Tamang, Hon’ble Ward Councillor Mining Ward Smt. Radha Pradhan and Municipal Executive Officer Shri Tsewang Norbu Bhutia, along with RNP officials, Staffs and Safaimitras and their dependents.
The programme was supported by officials and health personnel from Sikkim SACS, including AD GIPA, AD ICTC, STI In-charge and the IHC Team from Sikkim SACS, along with the medical team from Rangpo PHC.
The Rangpo PHC team included Shri Ratna Bdr. Bhattarai CHO, HWC-PHC; Shri Satyadeep Sharma Counsellor, HWC; Dr. Karma P. Lepcha; Dr. Dewan Kumar Chettri Dental Surgeon; and other supporting staff.
Health Check-up & Awareness
Health check-ups were conducted for around 70 plus including Safai Karmacharis, RNP staff and their dependants.
The health screening included Body Mass Index (BMI), Blood Glucose Testing, Blood Pressure Measurement, Tuberculosis (TB) Screening, HIV Testing, and Chest X-ray, as required.
Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) / Ayushman Bharat Cards were also distributed to 10 beneficiaries to facilitate access to digital health records and healthcare services.
Medicines were distributed to those requiring treatment and medical support.
A sensitisation session on HIV/AIDS, its prevention and preventive health practices was conducted by the Sikkim SACS team, with participants being encouraged to maintain awareness and adopt preventive measures.
The programme concluded with Bada Khana organised for the Safai Mitras, as a gesture of appreciation for their dedicated service towards maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in Rangpo.
