POSHAN MAAH 2026 CONCLUDES AT DZONGU BLOCK ADMINISTRATIVE CENTRE

Dzongu, North Sikkim, October 8th: The closing programme of Poshan Maah 2026 was held at the Block Administrative Centre, Dzongu, marking the successful conclusion of the month-long Poshan Maah celebration.

The programme witnessed the participation of Panchayat Member, Passingdong; Block Development Officer, Dzongu; Deputy Director, Dzongu Tribal Project; A.E., Dzongu; Supervisor, Dzongu; Nutrition Inspectors; Block Coordinator, Dzongu; Financial Literacy Specialist, HUB; Gender Specialist, HUB; AWWs/AWHs, mothers and community members.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Deputy Director, Dzongu Tribal Project, Mr. Netuk Lepcha, who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance and impact of Poshan Maah in strengthening nutrition awareness and community participation. He also congratulated all stakeholders for the successful completion of the month-long programme.

Block Coordinator, Dzongu, Mr. Kalsang Lepcha, briefed the gathering on the Poshan Maah theme and the objectives of the various activities conducted throughout the month.

Ms. Ongkit Lepcha, AWH, Namprick AWC, conducted a session on various Government welfare and financial schemes, including PMMVY, and created awareness on identifying counterfeit currency notes, providing useful financial literacy to the participants.

Nutrition Inspector, Mr. Sonam Namgyal Bhutia, conducted a session on dietary diversity, community dietary responsibility, the Protein Campaign, Colourful Plate and IEC activities, emphasising the importance of developing healthy nutrition habits and strengthening community participation in nutrition-related initiatives.

Block Development Officer, Dzongu, Mr. Mahendra Tamang, congratulated the participants on the successful conclusion of Poshan Maah and highlighted the importance of active community participation, along with the role of AWWs, AWHs and mothers in mobilising communities towards holistic development. He also appreciated and encouraged continued community participation in the Safai Abhiyaan and cleanliness drives being undertaken across Dzongu.

Ms. Pema Lhaden Lepcha, Financial Literacy Specialist, HUB, briefed the participants on various financial habits and Government schemes, besides highlighting the role and importance of the One Stop Centre and its services.

Panchayat Member, Passingdong, Mr. Jigmee Lepcha, emphasised the importance of active community participation in such programmes for achieving their intended objectives.

Nutrition Inspector, Mr. Prem Tshering, presented a recap of the sessions and activities conducted during the programme.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Supervisor, Dzongu.

The closing programme served as a meaningful platform for bringing together various stakeholders and communities, reinforcing the collective responsibility towards nutrition, financial literacy, community participation, cleanliness and holistic development. The programme successfully fulfilled its objectives and marked the culmination of the Poshan Maah 2026 celebrations in Dzongu.
