The Deputy Police Superintendents of the 2024 batch of Sikkim Police Service (SPS) paid a courtesy call on the Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Lokbhawan today.
On this occasion, the Governor congratulated the young police officers, had a detailed discussion on police laws, and guided them on their future responsibilities.
During the discussion, the Governor directly asked the new officers what role they see for the society as a police officer, to which the officers gave their respective responses.
The Hon'ble Governor emphasised that the main goal of the police should be to create a sense of security and trust in the society.
The Hon'ble Governor reminded the officers that Sikkim's identity is as a friendly and peaceful state, and urged the officers to preserve this peaceful legacy.
Along with this, the Honorable Governor emphasized the need to formulate action plans to deal with emerging new challenges with changing times, particularly the growing crisis of cybercrime and narcotics, and to adopt modern technologies.
Inspiring the young officers, the Governor advised them to be particularly vigilant about their physical and mental fitness. In addition, the Honourable Governor encouraged the officers to continuously study to understand the changing laws and new forms of crime, and to become a unique example for the entire country, including Sikkim.
