Today, a delegation of senior journalists from Karnataka paid a courtesy call to Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Lokbhawan. This visit was organized under the Media Inter-State Study Tour (MISUT) organized by the Directorate of Information and Broadcasting (DIB) under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. On this occasion, Hon'ble Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, Shri Indra Hang Subba, was also present.
The delegation from Karnataka was led by Shri Madhu M, Assistant Director, DIB, while Shri Mans Pratim Sharma from Sikkim was present on behalf of the state.
During this courtesy call, meaningful discussions took place on various important issues between the Honorable Governor, Lok Sabha MP, and senior journalists. The Governor, while interacting with the journalists, mentioned several significant initiatives being implemented by the Sikkim government in the public interest. He particularly highlighted Sikkim's unwavering commitment to the environment and its achievement as the country's first fully organic state.
The Governor also outlined the state's efforts to empower women and increase their participation in policy-making. Additionally, the Governor described Sikkim as a state with immense potential in promoting eco-tourism and traditional medical systems.
The visionary approach of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's Vibrant Village Scheme has also been discussed for the progress of infrastructure and civic amenities in the border villages of Sikkim. The Governor praised the well-organized and disciplined traffic system of Sikkim and described it as an exemplary model for other states in the country.
Hon'ble Lok Sabha MP Shri Indra Hang Subba, participating in the discussion, provided detailed information on connectivity-related issues through his delegation. He said that the Central Government is giving top priority to the development of Sikkim and the geographical challenges it faces. He also described the long experience of the Governor's public life as extremely beneficial for Sikkim, saying that under his guidance, new dimensions of state development are being touched.
On this occasion, journalists asked several questions related to Sikkim's development plans, geographical challenges, and future roadmap, which the Hon'ble Governor answered in detail.
