Lions Club of Ranipool Distributes Bhagavad Gita to Government School Teachers to Promote Quality Education
Ranipool, July 22: In a unique initiative to promote value-based education and inspire teachers through the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the Lions Club of Ranipool organized a special programme at Biraspati Parsai Senior Secondary School, Ranipool, on Tuesday. During the programme, copies of the book Bhagavad Gita for Government Employees, authored by Dr. L.P. Sharma, were presented to all the postgraduate teachers of the school.
The programme was organized with the objective of motivating teachers, strengthening ethical values, and encouraging excellence in education by drawing practical lessons from the Bhagavad Gita. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sharma explained that although the book has been written primarily for government employees, its principles are universal and equally relevant to teachers, who play a pivotal role in shaping the character and future of society.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sharma shared important lessons from the various chapters of the book. He emphasized that teachers should perform their duties with dedication and sincerity without being influenced by the expectation of rewards. He highlighted the importance of integrity, discipline, selfless service, impartiality, emotional balance, continuous learning, effective leadership, time management, stress management, compassion, humility, teamwork, and accountability in the teaching profession. He also spoke about maintaining transparency, making ethical decisions, embracing innovation, respecting every student, and viewing education as a sacred responsibility dedicated to nation-building.
Dr. Sharma further stated that the Bhagavad Gita teaches resilience in the face of challenges, clarity in decision-making, and unwavering commitment to one’s duty. These values, he said, can help teachers inspire young minds, create a positive learning environment, and contribute significantly to the development of responsible and ethical citizens.
Dr. Sharma also informed all present in the occasion about the online book portal www.readgoodbooks.in which is an initiative from Sikkim to help people restrain from digital distraction and enhance focus and patience through book reading culture and requested all to purchase and gift books and encourage people to read books and contribute to this journey.
Speaking on the occasion the Principal of the School Mrs. Sandhya Sharma appreciated the practical insights shared by Dr. Sharma and described the book as a valuable guide for both personal and professional development. She thanked Lions Club of Ranipool for choosing her school for this service and bringing the author of the book to the school. She hoped that the learnings from the book would motivate her teachers to perform their responsibilities with greater commitment and confidence and advised all teachers to read the book thoroughly and use it as a daily guide.
