Successful IEC Programme on HIV/AIDS Awareness and Free Health Screening Conducted at SMGSSS Khamdong

An IEC Programme under the Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SSACS) was successfully organised at PM Shri Sonamati Memorial Government Senior Secondary School (SMGSSS), Khamdong, in collaboration with the Block Administrative Centre (BAC), Khamdong.

The programme was led by Dr. Negi, with valuable support from Assistant Director (Health), Ms. Dikki Sonam Bhutia, and Programme Coordinator, Shri Bishal Rai, along with their dedicated team.

As part of the programme, free health screening and diagnostic services were provided to participants. The medical team conducted tests for HIV, haemoglobin (Hb), blood sugar, Hepatitis A, B and C, and blood pressure (BP). Essential medicines and health counselling were also provided to the beneficiaries.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from Principal, students, teachers, officials of BAC Khamdong, the Block Development Officer (BDO), members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and the general public, all of whom availed themselves of the free health services and awareness sessions.

The initiative aimed to enhance public awareness on HIV/AIDS prevention, promote early detection through voluntary screening, and encourage healthy lifestyle practices. The organisers expressed their gratitude to all participants and collaborating agencies for making the programme a grand success, reaffirming their commitment to improving public health and community well-being.
