STNM HOSPITAL REVIEWS PREPARATIONS FOR UPCOMING LANDMARK KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

​GANGTOK, 05 AUGUST 2026: Administrative and operational review meetings were conducted today at the Conference Hall of STNM Hospital. The meeting was chaired by Shri Tshewang Gyachho, IAS, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, in the presence of Principal Director Dr. P. Seden, Dr. Suresh Madan Rasaily (AMS-I), and Dr. Chinta Mani Sharma (AMS-II), to evaluate the final readiness for the upcoming historic kidney transplant.

​Beginning with a review and formulation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline hospital workflows, discussions focused on comprehensive preparations for the major kidney transplant scheduled for 15 August 2026. The agenda covered crucial clinical and logistic components, including donor and recipient protocols, mandated counselling sessions, and the meticulous transition and operational readiness of the Operation Theatre.

​To ensure the highest standard of patient safety and clinical excellence, the meeting thoroughly assessed consumable buffer stocks, infection prevention and control, vaccination requirements, and manpower. Furthermore, robust infrastructure support was confirmed by the Engineering Cell, led by the Chief Engineer Civil—comprising mechanical, civil, electrical, and biomedical divisions—alongside the organizing team.

​The meeting witnessed active participation from key officials from the headquarters and STNM Hospital, including specialist doctors, the operating medical team, doctors, nurses, nursing officers, paramedical officers, paramedics, the SOTTO team, IEC cell STNM, and all concerned staff members of STNM Hospital.

​Concluding the extensive review, the Secretary and the team undertook a direct on-site inspection of the critical care infrastructure, visiting the Transplant Operation Theatre and the Post-Transplant ICU, urging all stakeholders to execute their duties with utmost dedication and inter-departmental synergy to guarantee the absolute success of the transplant
