The first coordination meeting was held today, 15.10.2025, in the Annex Building Conference Hall, STNM Hospital, chaired by Shri. Tshewang Gyachho,IAS Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department , for the demolition and reconstruction of three old building structures, existing I, II & III. ( old Subji Mandi ).

The members present were Principal Director I & IV Health Deptt., MS STNM Hospital, PD cum AMS I and AMS II STNM HOSPITAL, PCC cum Director STNM Hospital, HoDs of various clinical and allied Departments from STNM, Principal SGCON, Assoc. Professor SGCON, STO, Chief Engineer Civil, Addl. Chief Engineer ( Mech), SE (Mech), A.E. Civil, Sr. AO, Sr. BME and other officials concerned.

The meeting started with the opening remark from the Secretary Department Health and Family Welfare for the demolition and reconstruction of the buildings where various departments and sections need to be relocated/shifted to a new location till the completion of the new structure, Tertiary Cancer Care Center.

Chief Engineer Civil, highlighted the scope of the work wherein he stated that work shall be completed within 36 months(3 years) and that the new building shall be fully equipped with all the facilities required to operationalise Cancer and Psychiatric Hospital.

Principal SGCON presented the minimum requirements to function as a Nursing College in a new location.

MS STNM opined on the optional location in the New Medical College or in the new GNM Hostel in the area of the new Sikkim Government Medical College for relocating the Nursing College.

MS STNM consequently presented the number and the names of departments to be relocated, viz a viz STNM Stores, Cold Chain Store, MRD, AYUSH Store, Accounts Section, Yatri Niwas, Department of Psychiatry, IRL and Department of Radiation Oncology.

During the discussion, various provisions and options were discussed for relocating the various faculties, and decided to meet again after the Diwali holidays.

Secretary Health also mentioned regarding the handing over and taking over of the Staff Quarters from CEEPL and the Buildings Department by the 3rd of November 2025, which may provide space for relocation of the said Departments.

Secretary Health concluded the meeting and directed that the same members present shall meet again immediately after Diwali Holidays with solutions and ideas to come to a decision, and ideas to curate an efficient and smooth plan for the relocation of various Departments.
