Soreng, October 7: Government Senior Secondary School, Chakung, successfully organised its Annual Blood Donation Camp on 7th October 2026 through the Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with Voluntary Blood Donation, Sikkim. Technical support was provided by the Blood Centre, District Hospital, Namchi. Mr. Barun Subba, Retired Additional Director, ( Chief Advisor VBDAS Sikkim)was also present to extend technical support and guidance. His gracious presence added significance to the programme and greatly motivated the donors, students and the entire school community. The camp was organised with the inspiring theme, “One Drop of Humanity – Give Blood, Save Lives.”
The Red Ribbon Club, established in the school in 2016, proudly completed 10 years of dedicated service towards creating awareness about voluntary blood donation and fostering a spirit of social responsibility among students and the community.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from donors and received valuable support from various organisations and individuals, including Rai Gaon Association, Himanchal Christia Sangati Church Budhang,NSS GSSS,Chakung, EPCS Rumbok Chakung, Shiloh Church Chakung, Bilding Lounge Chakung,Red Ribbon Club,GSSS,Chakung,NCC GSSS,Chakung,School Teachers-Mrs. Gayatri Mukhia and Mrs. Bimla Chettri.
The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, supporting organisations, health officials, volunteers, teachers and staff whose valuable contributions made the camp a success. A special note of appreciation goes to Mr. Gyanu Gurung for generously providing juice and bananas for the blood donors.
The event was a meaningful demonstration of compassion, community participation and the spirit of saving lives through voluntary blood donation. The school community remains committed to spreading the message that every drop counts and every donor can make a difference.
