Special Camp Organised at Sub-Jail Boomtar to Verify Ration Card and KYC Status of Inmates

Namchi, October 12 : In compliance with the directions issued by the Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur in its order dated August 11, 2026, in CRA No. 4604/2025, Prahlad Prasad Vishwkarma Vs The State of Madhya Pradesh and Others, a special camp was organised at Sub-Jail, Boomtar, today to verify the ration card and Know Your Customer (KYC) status of inmates.

The camp was organised in accordance with the directions issued by the District Collector, Namchi, vide letter No. 844/DC(Namchi)GN-I/424 dated October 9, 2026. The initiative aims to ensure that inmates have access to essential identity and welfare documentation, including ration cards, and that the requisite KYC formalities are completed.

The camp was attended by Superintendent of Jail, Mr Passang Tshering Lepcha, and Jailor, Mr Yogesh Gurung. The team from the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Namchi, was led by District Civil Supplies Officer (DCSO), Mr Tenzing Bhutia, along with District Extension Officer (DEO), Mr Vivek Rai, Food Inspector (FI), Ms Neema Tamang, and Assistant Sub-Inspector, Ms Amrita Kalikotey.

The primary objective of the camp was to ascertain whether inmates possessed ration cards and to verify the completion of KYC formalities.

During the exercise, the jail authorities furnished documents relating to 65 inmates for verification. Of these, 53 inmates were found to have ration cards, with their respective families continuing to receive ration supplies from the designated godowns without interruption. KYC formalities had been completed for all 53 inmates.

The remaining 12 inmates were found to have their names unregistered on ration cards due to various reasons. The concerned godown in-charges will be informed to facilitate the registration of their names, subject to the completion of the requisite KYC formalities by the jail authorities.

The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring that inmates are not deprived of essential public distribution services and that necessary documentation and KYC requirements are addressed in accordance with the directions of the Hon’ble Court.
