The “Common Facility Centre (CFC) Development Program” for the Sribadam Trout/Fish Farmers’ Association was organized by the Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (SEED) Cell on 28th November 2025 at Upper Sribadam, Soreng District. Smt. Anuradha Gurung, Chairperson, Fisheries Department, Government of Sikkim graced the programme as the Chief Guest.

Smt. Anuradha Gurung, Chairperson, Fisheries Department during her speech she acknowledged the collaborative efforts of SEED Cell, Fisheries Department, and other stakeholders and highlighted the importance of strengthening fisheries-based livelihoods through infrastructure development such as CFCs. She appreciated the enthusiasm of the farmers and encouraged them to make full use of the schemes and support systems available.

Shri Dipen Subba OSD (Commerce & Industries Department) & the General Secretary of the SEED Cell, who introduced the purpose and expectations of the CFC development initiative.

Dr. Raj Lama, President of SEED Cell, elaborated on the significance of the programme and stressed the importance of strengthening collective facilities for the benefit of trout farmers in Sribadam.

Dr. Rahul Kamble, Assistant Director, MSME DFO, Gangtok, elaborated about the Cluster Development Scheme of the Government of India.

Ms. Anula Gurung, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, Soreng District, who spoke about the implementation of the cluster scheme at the district level and the role of DIC in facilitating entrepreneurship.

Shri Lobsang Tamang, Joint Director, Fisheries Department, who shared valuable inputs on the fisheries sector, especially focusing on trout farming in the region.

The programme also featured a Question & Answer session, where farmers actively engaged with resource person and officials, raising practical concerns and seeking guidance. The session proved highly beneficial, enabling direct communication between farmers and departmental experts.

Also present in the program were Shri Mahendra Gurung OSD to HMLA Rinchenpong, Duchen Lepcha Deputy Director Fisheries, Krishna Psd Sharma Range Officer Fisheries, Deepa Chettri Block Officer Fisheries and Fish Farmer from Sribadam and Dental region.

The welcome address was presented by Shri Dipesh Chettri, District Co ordinator SEED CELL andthe Vote of Thanks by Shri Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara, Operational Manager of SEED Cell
