About the Festival

The Sikkim Fish Festival 2025, themed “Discover the Himalayan Freshness – Experience Sikkim’s Fish”, aims to promote the Himalayan Rainbow Trout, locally farmed fish species, and a range of value-added fish products from Sikkim. The festival will serve as a unique platform to connect local fish farmers with consumers, entrepreneurs, and traders from neighboring regions, while also raising awareness on sustainable fisheries and the nutritional importance of fish.

The two-day event will be held in the bustling commercial hub of Siliguri to ensure wider outreach and visibility for Sikkim’s fisheries products and farmers. The festival will feature exhibition-cum-sale stalls set up by progressive fish farmers, self-help groups, and entrepreneurs from all four districts of Sikkim. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience and purchase freshly harvested Rainbow Trout, smoked and dried fish products, fish pickles, and other processed varieties unique to the state. Apart from that live cooking counters featuring trout-based delicacies will also be there to introduce consumers to the taste and versatility of Sikkim’s trout.

The Sikkim Fish Festival 2025 will not only promote Sikkim’s aquaculture potential but also serve as a marketing and branding platform to enhance consumer awareness about the purity and freshness of Himalayan fish. It is expected to attract visitors from Siliguri and adjoining regions of North Bengal, thereby expanding market linkages and promoting cross-border trade in fish products.

The Fisheries Department expressed its gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister for his continued guidance and support towards strengthening Sikkim’s fisheries sector and for unveiling the banner, symbolizing the official launch of the promotional campaign for the event.
