Gangtok, August 07:
Refresher course training on various Excise Laws for officers and officials of the Excise department from all six districts was conducted by the department from 5th to 7th August here in the Headquarter, Gangtok.
During the training, retired Joint Commissioner, Shri Namyal Dorjee Bhutia, who was invited as the resource person and Legal Officer of the Department, Ms. Tashi Doma Nadikpa spoke in detail about the Excise Acts & Rules pertaining to seizures and departmental cases and also about Acts & Rules pertaining to issuance of licenses under the Excise department.
During the interaction session, officers and officials put forward the difficulties and bottlenecks they have experienced while performing their duties, to which the team imparting the training taught and guided them on how to handle tricky situations and deal with calmness and composure, where common sense as well as presence of mind is of utmost importance.
On the final day the trainees were also given a detailed PowerPoint presentation on E-ABKARI software. A written test was also conducted by the department where the trainees participated with lots of enthusiasm.
The Secretary, Excise Department Shri Jeewan Subba attended the valedictory function along with the Commissioner Ms. Binita Chettri and the Additional Secretary Ms. Samten Dolma Bhutia.
While addressing the gathering, the Secretary Excise hoped that the three-day refresher course training would be fruitful for the trainees, and the knowledge gained from it will help them to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
Shri Subba also stressed the importance of having a smooth delivery service mechanism. He categorically stated that the public should not face any bottlenecks while procuring a license or renewal of it from the department and procrastination should be avoided at all costs.
On 8th and 9th August, they will have field visits for spot verification of licenses and dry day checking as practical training.
