Medical Outreach Conducted at Darakharka Relief Camp (Yangyang, Namchi District)

Namchi, 5 July: A medical outreach team from Yangang HWC-PHC, with the support of the staff from Lingee HWC-SHC, conducted a health outreach visit to the disaster-affected Darakharka area, where a relief camp has been established. Despite the challenging terrain and adverse conditions, the team successfully reached the affected population to provide essential healthcare services.

The outreach aimed to ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare for individuals residing in the relief camp and nearby affected areas, including Darakharka and Chauridara wards. Medical consultation, treatment, health counselling, and awareness on disease prevention and personal hygiene were provided to the affected community.

Special attention was given to vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, infants, children, adolescents, elderly persons, and individuals living with chronic medical conditions, ensuring they received timely medical assessment, treatment, counselling, and appropriate follow-up care.

The team also distributed essential medicines free of cost to those in need. In addition, blood pressure and GRBS (Random Blood Sugar) screening, mental health counselling, and AYUSH services were provided to promote the overall health and well-being of the affected population.

The outreach was carried out by a team comprising the Medical Officer In-Charge, Dr. Asmita Gurung; Dental Surgeon, Dr. Sujana Sharma; Physiotherapist, Dr. Prem Bahadur Chettri; Pharmacist, Mr. Anil Sharma; PM-JAY Operator, Mr. Bishal Chettri; MLHP, Ms. Mingma Lhamu Sherpa; ANM, Ms. Hema Dahal; MWA, Mr. Purna Bahadur Chettri; FWA, Ms. Goma Chettri; and ASHA, Ms. Jarmila Rai, who worked collectively to ensure comprehensive healthcare services reached the disaster-affected community.

The outreach reflects the continued commitment of the Health Department, Namchi District, to delivering essential healthcare services and safeguarding the health and well-being of communities affected by natural disasters through timely medical response and coordinated field-level interventions.
