Session on OSC, WHL & CHL Services

The District Hub for Empowerment of WOMEN & CHILD (DHEW), Soreng, under SANKALP, organized an awareness session on One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL – 181), and Child Helpline Unit (CHL – 1098) services as part of the 10-day special awareness campaign at Khanisirbong GPK Hall. The programme was attended by MGNREGA workers, SHG members, students of Khanisirbong Sr. Sec. School, and local residents.
The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Nutan Lepchaa, District Mission Coordinator, who highlighted the services provided under OSC and WHL (181).
The session was further addressed by Ms. Nirmala Chettri, Case Worker, who explained in detail the functioning of the Child Helpline Unit (1098). She elaborated on how CHL responds to both emergency cases (rescue of children in distress, medical assistance, legal intervention, and shelter support) and non-emergency cases (counseling, awareness building, guidance, and community follow-up).
Ms. Smriti Sharma, Gender Specialist, highlighted the various schemes and programmes of DHEW aimed at WOMEN’s empowerment, safety, and protection of rights.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Biren Limboo, who appreciated the active involvement and enthusiasm of all participants.
The event witnessed participation from BAC representatives, GPK staff, SHG members, Khanisirbong Sr. Sec. School students, HUB staff, SNG, MGNREGA staff, AWC staff, and local residents.
The awareness session proved valuable in sensitizing the community on WOMEN’s safety, CHILD protection services, and the importance of collective responsibility in creating a safer and inclusive society.
