Joint Inspection of 2 MW Kalez HEP Conducted at Dentam
Dentam, September 18 : In compliance with the direction of the Hon’ble High Court of Sikkim regarding the inspection of hydro power projects within the district, a joint inspection of the 2 MW M/s Kundan Hydro Pvt. Ltd. (Kalez HEP) was conducted at Dentam, Dentam Sub-Division, today.
The inspection team comprised Mr N. K. Karki, SDM, Dentam; Mr Karma Tenzing Bhutia, SDPO, Dentam; Mr Pujan Tamang, RO (T), Forest Department, Dentam; Mr Amrit Basnet, Training Officer, DDMA, Gyalshing; Mr Passang Tsh. Bhutia, SFO/SI, Fire and Emergency Services, Gyalshing; Mr Ashish Limboo, JE, WRD; Mr Arjun Rai, JE, Power Department, Dentam; Mr Khem Raj Pradhan, JE, Power Department, Dentam; and Mr Navin Gurung, DMS, DDMA, Gyalshing.
During the inspection, the team assessed the overall condition and functioning of the hydro power project, with particular focus on safety measures, infrastructure, maintenance and other relevant aspects.
The inspection team observed that the overall condition of the project and the aspects examined were satisfactory.
However, SDM Dentam Mr N. K. Karki directed the concerned authorities/project management to undertake necessary measures on two key points. These include protection work for the tail race main gate from the upper side along with fencing around the tail race, and necessary protective measures for the siren system.
The inspection was conducted as part of the ongoing assessment of hydro power projects to ensure compliance with safety requirements and necessary preventive measures.
