Gangtok, 7th September 2026:
The District Infrastructure Coordination Committee (DICC) Meeting for Gangtok District was held today at the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok, to deliberate upon various infrastructure-related issues and facilitate coordinated implementation of ongoing and proposed infrastructure works across the district.
The meeting was chaired by Shri Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, ADC, Gangtok, and co-chaired by Shri Tshering Gyatso, Sr. SP, Gangtok. The meeting was attended by the members of the District Infrastructure Coordination Committee representing various departments, agencies and organisations.
The meeting deliberated on a range of issues pertaining to National Highways, State Highways, arterial roads and internal roads, with particular emphasis on improving coordination among the concerned departments and agencies for timely resolution of infrastructure-related matters.
Key issues discussed included utility shifting, statutory and departmental clearances, road-related concerns, identification of inter-departmental and inter-agency issues, and mechanisms for their coordinated resolution across Gangtok District.
The Committee emphasised the importance of regular coordination and timely resolution of bottlenecks affecting infrastructure projects, particularly those having a direct bearing on road connectivity, public convenience and overall development of the district.
The concerned departments and agencies were advised to maintain close coordination and undertake necessary follow-up action for expeditious resolution of pending issues within their respective jurisdictions.
The meeting concluded with a commitment towards strengthening inter-departmental coordination and ensuring efficient and timely implementation of infrastructure projects in Gangtok District.
