Commerce and Industries Department Gyalshing inaugurates Trekking Training Programme at Yuksam
Gyalshing,January 31: The Trekking Training Programme was successfully inaugurated today at Yuksam,Gyalshing,in the presence of distinguished guests and local participants.
The programme aims to strengthen trekking skills, promote safe mountain practices, and enhance livelihood opportunities in the eco-tourism sector.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr Dhiraj Jairu, Inspector, District Industries Centre (DIC), Gyalshing, Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim and Mr Ongden Tshering Lepcha, CEO, Kunnam Projects Pvt. Ltd., who emphasised the importance of structured training, safety awareness, and professionalism in trekking and adventure tourism.
They highlighted the growing scope of trekking tourism in Sikkim and the need for skilled local guides to ensure sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
The training will be conducted under the guidance of Mr Passang Thendup Bhutia, who will serve as the Master Trainer, providing hands-on training in trekking techniques, route navigation, safety protocols, physical conditioning, environmental conservation, and first-aid practices.
The programme is expected to equip participants with practical knowledge and confidence required for trekking-related employment while promoting Yuksam as a hub for trained and responsible trekking professionals.
