Under the guidance Education Department,GOS three day long training on Strengthening Communicative English and Foundational Learning started at Timberbong SS for two pilot blocks under Soreng district.
The training focuses on improving students reading, writing and communicative English skills through innovative activity based and learner centric approaches.
It ensures that every child acquire strong English Language skills, improve English proficiency and enhance public confidence in government schools.
Six schools under Block and 5 schools under Daramdin blocks are selected to attend the training .
2/3 teachers teaching pre primary,Grade 1/2/3 are selected for the training.
The initiative is a collaborative scheme of Education Department with Vikramshila Education Resource Society, Kolkota.
The inaugural session was graced by Shri S. B. Subba, Hon'ble Advisor IPR Department, Government of Sikkim as the Chief Guest, Mr. Tenzing Dorji Bhutia CEO (District Nodal Officer),Mr M K Khewa, JD,Mrs Sushma Mohra Deputy Director (District Coordinator),Mr Govind Pradhan AD ,Mr Anil Sharma AEO and CRC of two blocks, attended the training.
Mrs Anjana Thapa , Coordinator ,Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Education Department Gangtok laid the context setting of the program.
Mrs.Shubhra Chaterji, Director cum Resource Person gave a brief description about Vikramshila Education Resource Society and the traning program.
The Chief Guest expressed his gratitude to HCM of Sikkim for initiating the program and urged the teachers to give their best for shaping the future of the students and focus on English Language in order gain the confidence of guardians in all the government schools across the state.
