Psychosocial Assessment cum Counseling Program at Awake Rehabilitation Center, Assam Lingzey

The Center for Addiction Medicine, Chuwatar under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Sikkim, conducted a Psychosocial Assessment cum Counseling Program at Awake Rehabilitation Center on 21st February 2026. The program was organized as part of an outreach strategy aimed at strengthening collaboration and extending professional support to private rehabilitation centers across the State of Sikkim.
Dr. Satish Rasaily, Addiction Medicine Specialist, conducted individual psychosocial assessments and counseling sessions for patients admitted at the center. He also provided necessary medical guidance and prescribed medications where required. In addition, he interacted with caregivers and staff members, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive treatment approach that combines medical management, psychological support, and family involvement.
Mr. Ganesh Sapkota, Incharge of Awake Rehabilitation Center, shared that the center is striving to integrate medical intervention with structured farming and vocational activities alongside the traditional 12-step recovery program. He highlighted that such a holistic model helps patients regain discipline, responsibility, and self-confidence during recovery.
He further informed that a special rehabilitation facility has recently been started at Assam Lingzey to cater specifically to the female population. Families and significant others seeking safe and compassionate rehabilitation services for women are encouraged to contact the center for admission and guidance.
Mr. Sapkota expressed his sincere gratitude to Dr. Satish Rasaily for his continued support, professional guidance, and commitment towards strengthening addiction treatment services in the state.
