Twenty five dedicated progressive farmers including educated unemployed youth, poultry farmers, entrepreneur from different parts of the state successfully completed Two Days Residential Training on Poultry Farming w.e.f 10th Feb 1016 to 11th Feb 2026 was organised by Training and Extension cell, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Department at the Sokeythang Training Centre, of Tadong Gangtok.
The curriculum featured an innovative blend of orientation sessions,
- Advanced animal handling techniques
- Diffrent breeds of poultry suitable and common in our state
- Modern housing practices and ration balancing
- importance of vitamins and it's supplementation
- Essential first aid procedures and disease preventive medthong including timely deworming and vaccination of birds
- Sustainable management practice.
- Awareness about the different Central and State Government schemes on Animal Husbandry sector.
- importance of registration of animal both livestock and poultry, livestock census
- insurance of animal,
- subsidized loans,KCC etc.
The valedictory ceremony was held on 11th Feb 2026. The event was graced by distinguished officials including Dr. Sanjay M Gajmer,Director (T&E/C&D), along with Additional Directors, Joint Directors , and senior official from the Department.
