Awareness Programme on Livestock Insurance Held at Sribadam, Soreng District
Soreng, January 30:
The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH & VS), in collaboration with United India Insurance Company Limited, organised an awareness programme on Livestock Insurance for livestock farmers at Sribadam, Soreng District.
The programme was attended by Ms. Meera Gurung, Panchayat Vice President; Dr. Kishore Thapa, Additional Director (AH & VS); Dr. Kunzang P. Bhutia, Joint Director; Dr. Chudamani Sharma, Veterinary Officer; Dr. Sharin Gurung, Veterinary Officer; Dr. Julina Subba, Veterinary Officer; Dr. Miwang T. Tamang, Veterinary Officer; and Mrs. Ambika Pradhan, A.D.D.O.
The resource persons from United India Insurance Company Limited were Mr. Deep Lama, Branch In-charge, and Mr. Diwakar Shiwakoti, Administrative Officer.
During the programme, Mr. Deep Lama highlighted the importance of livestock insurance for both large and small animals, emphasizing its role in safeguarding farmers against financial losses. Mr. Diwakar Shiwakoti elaborated on the eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the claim process to be followed in the event of death of insured animals.
The programme aimed to create awareness among farmers and encourage wider adoption of livestock insurance for risk mitigation and sustainable livestock development.
