Training-cum-Awareness & Distribution Programme on Micro Irrigation System under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY)-Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) held at Lingee VLW Centre
Yangang, November 5: Training-cum-Awareness and Distribution Programme on Micro-Irrigation Systems under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) — Per Drop More Crop (PDMC) component, was successfully organised today by the Agriculture Department of Namchi District at the Lingee VLW Centre, Lingee-Sokpay cluster.
The programme was graced by the Honourable Area MLA of 16-Tumin Lingee Constituency and Chairman of STCS, Shri Samdup Tshering Bhutia, as Chief Guest. The event also witnessed the presence of OSD, Agriculture Department, OSD to HMLA, Additional Director (Agriculture) – Namchi District, SDM, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayat President and Panchayat Members, Vice President SKM, CLC President Tumin Lingee, General Secretary Tumin Lingee, Agriculture and Horticulture Departmental officials, and beneficiary farmers.
The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Vaishnu Rai, DDA.
Mrs. Nirmala Moktan, ADA enlightened the attending farmers on the ongoing departmental schemes and encouraged them to avail the benefits of the scheme.
Thereafter, Ms. Lila Gurung, JE, presented a technical session on Other Interventions (OI) and Micro Irrigation (MI) Systems, emphasising how water-saving technologies are instrumental in enhancing productivity and sustainability.
Mr Bhagirath Tiwari, Panchayat President, highlighted local production potential and urged farmers to engage proactively with the newly provided systems.
In his address, Chief Guest, Shri Samdup T. Bhutia, congratulated the 240 beneficiaries of the MI Programme. He urged them to make optimum use of the distributed MI systems while affirming his continued support and cooperation in all developmental activities aimed at improving farmer livelihoods.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Florenz Bhutia, ADO cum PMKSY Cluster incharge.
Under the scheme, a total of 240 beneficiaries received micro-irrigation tanks and accessories as part of the PMKSY-PDMC initiative — a programme designed to promote efficient water management, boost crop productivity, and ensure the judicious use of every drop of water. This event marks another significant step forward in the government’s mission to empower farmers through sustainable and scientific agricultural practices.
