INTERFACE MEETING OF ATMA PAKYONG AND KVK EAST HELD TO STRENGTHEN FARMER CENTRIC EXTENSION AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

Pakyong, 08 October: An Interface Meeting between ATMA Pakyong and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) East was conducted at the Conference Hall of KVK East with the objective of strengthening coordination, knowledge sharing, technology transfer and collaborative extension activities for the benefit of the farming community of Pakyong District.

The programme formally commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. Boniface Lepcha, SMS, KVK East, who also presented a detailed overview of the technologies developed and promoted by KVK East and their potential for adoption by farmers.

Dr. Anushree Gogoi, STO, KVK East, provided valuable insights into value addition of agricultural crops, with particular emphasis on Dalle Chilli and millets, highlighting opportunities for improving product value, processing and farmers’ income.

Dr. Swapna, SMS, KVK East, shared insights into various aspects of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences (AH&VS) and the technological interventions available for improving livestock production and management.

Smt. Rebecca Gurung, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Pakyong, gave a detailed presentation on the activities and interventions being undertaken by ATMA. She highlighted that the primary objective of the Interface Meeting was to strengthen coordination between ATMA and KVK and ensure joint and coordinated implementation of farmer-oriented activities.She also briefed the participants on the recent ATMA guidelines, and emphasised the importance of Krishi Mapping and timely uploading of information on the AgriShiksha Portal. She stressed the need for effective cluster development and encouraged ATMA functionaries to work closely with KVK scientists for the dissemination and adoption of appropriate technologies.

Smt. Rebecca Gurung further appealed to all ATMA functionaries to maintain close coordination with KVK and encouraged farmers and field functionaries to adopt and promote technologies developed by KVK East for enhancing productivity, sustainability and farmers’ income.

The Keynote Address and overall review of the discussions were delivered by Dr. Prakash Sharma, Head, KVK East, who emphasised the importance of stronger institutional collaboration and coordinated efforts for effective technology dissemination and extension services.

The meeting was attended by Smt. Sangita Basnett, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department; Shri Tashi Gyamtso Bhutia, ADO, Parakha; Shri Gagan Gurung, ADO; and all ATMs and BTMs of ATMA Pakyong.

The Interface Meeting concluded with a shared commitment towards strengthening ATMA - KVK collaboration, promoting technology adoption, enhancing extension services and working collectively for the overall development and welfare of the farming community of Pakyong District.
