Farmers from Tamil Nadu Visit Progressive Farms in Rhenock, Pakyong
Pakyong, August 20: A team of farmers from Tamil Nadu visited Gauri Narayan Farm, ENK Farm and Hazaray Brothers’ Organic Farm in Rhenock, Pakyong, to gain insights into innovative, sustainable and progressive farming practices being adopted at the field level.
During the visit, the farmers interacted with officers from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, including ADO, HDO and ATM , along with the SDM, Rongli. The interaction covered various aspects of agriculture and horticulture development, with particular emphasis on organic farming practices being promoted in the State of Sikkim.
The visiting farmers also sought information on the ATMA programme and various Agriculture and Horticulture schemes being implemented for the benefit of farmers. Discussions focused on the effective implementation of government programmes at the grassroots level, with emphasis on enhancing farmers’ income, improving productivity, promoting modern agricultural technologies and encouraging sustainable farming practices.
The visiting team appreciated the efforts being made in Sikkim towards promoting progressive and organic farming practices, as well as strengthening farmer-oriented extension services.
The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) plays an important role in supporting farmer-centric activities through trainings, demonstrations, exposure visits and dissemination of modern agricultural technologies, facilitating the adoption of improved and sustainable farming practices.
The visit provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and cross-learning, highlighting the importance of field-level innovation, convergence of government schemes and farmer-oriented extension approaches for sustainable agricultural development
