Under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP), the Agriculture Department successfully conducted a distribution-cum-awareness programme on potato seed tubers at Ringhim Nampatam and later at Singhik Sentam GPU under Mangan Block.

The programme witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including the Honourable Panchayat President, Mr. Sherap Bhutia, Ward Panchayats, SDM Mangan Mr. Sandeep Kumar (IAS), ADO Mangan Ms. Chimi Yangzom Lepcha, and ADO Dzongu Mr. Adarsh Rai.

Physical verification of the distributed potato tuber seeds was carried out by the SDM Mangan Mr. Sandeep Kumar (IAS) to ensure transparency and effective implementation. He emphasized the need for establishing Custom Hiring Centre at Singhik Sentam FPO as a strategic intervention for livelihood development under the VVP. He underscored that CHC would play a crucial role in enhancing agricultural productivity, improving income security and foster sustainable farming.

ADO Dzongu delivered the welcome address and provided a brief outline of the programme objectives.

An awareness session on scientific cultivation practices of potato seed tubers (Kufri Jyoti variety) was conducted by ADO Mangan, highlighting the benefits of using certified quality seed tubers for enhanced yield, improved disease tolerance, and better market returns.

Addressing the gathering, SDM Mangan Mr. Sandeep Kumar (IAS) elaborated on the significance of the Vibrant Village Programme in fostering inclusive development in remote border areas of Mangan district. He stressed that initiatives like VVP not only strengthen agricultural productivity but also contribute to sustainable livelihoods, infrastructure development, and socio-economic resilience of rural communities.

The Panchayat President, Mr. Sherap Bhutia, emphasized the collective responsibility of the farming community in driving rural growth and acknowledged the Vibrant Village Programme as a crucial platform for farmer empowerment. He commended the Agriculture Department for its proactive role in extending technical guidance and continuous support to local farmers.

Subsequently, the programme was also conducted at Singhik Sentam GPU, where similar activities were carried out by Agriculture Inspector Ms. Bimla Subba, ensuring wider outreach and farmer participation under the Vibrant Village Programme.
